Himalayan Pink Salt Foot Soak

Coarse pink salt crystals from Khewra in Punjab, Pakistan, ground for use in warm water. Nothing added.

How to use it

1. Fill a basin with warm water, comfortable to the touch rather than hot.
2. Add roughly a quarter to a half cup of salt and stir until it dissolves.
3. Soak for 15 to 20 minutes.
4. Rinse, dry thoroughly between the toes, and moisturise while the skin is still slightly damp.

More salt does not make it work better. Past the point where it dissolves, the extra just settles at the bottom of the basin.

A warm salt soak is a comfort ritual. We are not claiming it treats any condition, and the evidence for salt specifically, as opposed to warm water and twenty minutes off your feet, is thin.

Do not use it on broken skin, open blisters, or cuts, as salt in an open wound stings sharply. If you have diabetes, neuropathy, or reduced sensation in your feet, speak to your doctor before soaking them. Reduced sensation makes it easy to scald without noticing, and foot care in those conditions is genuinely a medical matter rather than a wellness one.
